Job summary
Connect2Luton are looking for an experienced legal secretary to support the Luton Borough Council's legal department.As a legal secretary/Secretarial Assistant you will be working under the direction of the Practice Manager, personally provide efficient legal secretarial, administrative and clerical support to the Principal Solicitors, Fee Earners and Service Director, in order to facilitate the effective delivery of the services provided by Legal Services.
About the role:
To carry out Service, Departmental and corporate procedures (for which the Service is responsible) to meet agreed timescales and standards.
Contribute to the development of and subsequent maintenance of Legal Services administrative systems, ensuring that at all times these are kept up to date and hold accurate information
Assist with delivery and collection of court documents on behalf of the Fee Earners as instructed to various external buildings (inc Court).
Process Care Orders on a monthly basis on behalf of the Social Services Children's Dept and issue as instructed to courts / solicitors / social workers.
Carry out such office duties as from time to time e.g. photo-copying, faxing, receiving and sending of e-mail messages
Deal with telephone callers and direct them to the appropriate professional officer.
Attend and take notes of office meetings as required.
About you:
Experience of word processing, copy typing and audio typing.
Accurate data entry and word processing skills.
Knowledge of General PC/Windows based environment.
Experience of working in a Legal Office
RSA qualification or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
Able to work under pressure to deadlines and work on own initiative.
Excellent oral communication skills, able to work under pressure and deal with competing priorities and confident telephone manner
