Job descriptionJob Title: Regional Technical Surveyor / Estimator
Position: Home Based, Various Locations (Oxford, Scotland)
Salary: £41,000 per annum plus car allowance of £4,800
Job Purpose: The Regional Technical Surveyor / Estimator is responsible for assessing damage for buildings insurance claims to determine their validity and quantum. They will also verify the scope and quantum for accepted claims. The role involves providing technical support for building damage elements of claims and offering first-stage support to the Customer Services Team for claims with FOS complaints. Additionally, the Regional Technical Surveyor / Estimator will conduct audits for local contractors in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
Visit risk addresses and assess claim validity and quantum, delivering decisions directly to the Policyholder/Authorised Person.
Evaluate building claims based on surveyor reports and other relevant information, providing a detailed explanation of claim declination with clear and well-communicated reasons.
Offer first-stage support to Customer Services on FOS complaints, including writing reports detailing technical decisions.
Identify cases with potential cost savings or repudiation and arrange site visits for further assessment.
Coordinate with The company approved Building Contractors to review contract variations and interim payments, conducting joint site visits as required.
Provide technical support within the Surveying Team on building repairs, methodology, and pathology.
Validate customer invoices/quotations using Xactware as needed and discuss them with policyholders to ensure fair and reasonable costs, considering policy coverage.
Visit large loss claims and produce accurate reports and scopes of work using Xactware.
Conduct joint site visits with The company Large Loss/Complex Claim Handlers, discussing and resolving policy coverage issues directly with Policyholders.
Audit and oversee the Surveyor Network and Contractors, with assistance from the Supply Chain Manager. This includes auditing current and aged claims, identifying leakage from the surveyor's scope, and variations submitted by contractors. The audit will involve desk and site visits, covering all aspects of the claim journey.
Progress and update Buildings Insurance claims, including updating reserves, cash settlement payments, contractor instructions, and closing claims as required.
Undertake any individual or team task or activity requested in line with company values, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to react during surge periods.
Person Specification: Qualifications:
Secondary education with qualifications in Maths and English, and demonstrable ability in numeracy skills and written English.
Qualifications in surveying such as HNC or similar are desirable.
Experience & Knowledge:
Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, with trade background considered.
Estimating/surveying experience within insurance is essential.
Experience with Xactware or other estimating software is desirable.
Skills & Abilities:
