Job summary

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, based Lancashire, a permanent vacancy for a qualified and experienced mechanical maintenance engineer, working a rotational day/night shift pattern. Offering a highly competitive annual salary of £47k, well-paid overtime shift allowance and an attractive employee benefits package, this opportunity is available immediately.

Ideally educated to NVQ 3/ONC/HNC Mechanical Engineering standard, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook for reporting and internal communication with the wider management and maintenance team. You will have at least 3 years previous, relevant work experience with proven skills in mechanical repair and replacement, excellent working knowledge of PLC's (Siemens or Allen Bradley), supported by strong working knowledge within a FMCG environment.

Working on a fast-moving manufacturing site, this vacancy is best suited to a candidate who can demonstrate a proven track record in mechanical maintenance, incorporating some electrical engineering skills to ensure that the site and plant equipment is maintained to a continuous high safety standard. The overall objective is to maintain and enhance all machinery performance, optimising output whilst reducing engineering downtime. The need to respond, repair, replace and/or maintain are key requirements, best suited to an engineer who can undertake some project-based work, report any machine failures and to manage the effective communication process between all parties during any breakdown/downtime.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, the role does require you to conduct an element of training, ensuring that machine operators can perform all required functions and tasks, the ability to identify parts for refurbishment, obtain new parts via the supply chain and uphold all Health and Safety requirements in line with plant equipment and staff operation.
