We at Platform Resourcing are currently working in partnership with a business based in the Newport area, who are actively recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. Our client work alongside a variety of retail stores and supply a range of merchandised packaging solutions used for display purposes, as well as offering packaging solutions to other retail and wholesale environments. The site comprises of a variety of high speed process machine's

The client are now looking to expand the team as they have recently had a major investment into a wide range of new plant machinery. The engineering team are looking to recruit a time served, experienced mechanical maintenance individual with good communication and analytical skills.

This role will be working on a days shift pattern, Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm or 7am to 3pm, working this pattern, our client offers a market leading salary, excellent holidays and pension scheme.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Salary and Benefits:

Salary of up to £42,000 per year
Days shift pattern 6am to 2pm or 7am to 3pm
Monday to Friday
Pension Matched at 4%
Holidays 25 days + 8 Bank Holidays

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities include:

Support the engineering team by carrying out systematic tasks and continuous improvements to plant and machinery to improve existing manufacturing processes.
Reactive maintenance and repair, working to undertake repairs as efficiently as possible in order to minimise downtime (both mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair based on your bias)
Troubleshooting any issues, fault finding and using diagnostic techniques
Performing inspection and servicing of the manufacturing equipment as required
Use initiative to identify areas that will improve the production performance, line utilisation and focus on reducing scrap levels.
Provide maintenance support regarding projects.
Perform housekeeping duties in the engineering environment during any slack time.
Will work in line with the Health and Safety requirements at all times.
Carry out testing on fire alarm systems on a weekly basis.
Support and maintain operations across all sites relating to breakdowns and preventive plant maintenance.
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Skills/Experience:

Candidates must be educated to HNC/HND level in a mechanical discipline or have equivalent experience.
Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer Mechanical Bias with a basic knowledge of either
Qualification in Engineering equivalent with NVQ/ City and Guilds Level 3 or HNC/HND in either Electrical or Mechanical disciplines
Experience of performing diagnostics/ fault finding and repairs
Experience within a Manufacturing Environment is essential
Knowledge of welding and fabrication
Understanding and ability to read engineering schematics/ drawings is absolutely essential
Attention to detail
Ability to offer flexibility, due to shift patterns
