Role Overview:
As a Buyer, you will take charge of coordinating and placing orders for engineering parts and commodities, ensuring seamless procurement processes. Your partnership with the Head of Operations will be pivotal in aligning our purchasing strategies with our business objectives.
We are looking for someone who can skilfully manage purchases in order to stay within or under budget, whilst ensuring that all acquired parts meet the required quality and specifications and can be delivered to target.
Your Responsibilities:
You will need to pre-qualify, select, analyze performance, and provide feedback to vendors. Develop and maintain a robust vendor database to ensure top-notch Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
Whilst maintaining accurate and up-to-date data in our ERP system, ensuring MRP functionality, you will generate accurate RFQs and Purchase Orders to streamline the purchasing process. Expediting orders for reliable OTD whilst managing and communicating any shortages effectively.
Working closely with the operations team to ensure all purchase parts are available for hitting milestones without any disruptions.
You will focus on monthly development areas to achieve savings targets that contribute to business growth, ensuring full integration with company QHSE systems to uphold our commitment to quality, health, safety, and the environment.
You will maintain clear and open communication with all departments and staff, taking part in Daily Operations Meetings with up-to-date information and actionable insights.
About you:
You will be CIPS Level 4 (or currently studying towards) or have a similar level of qualification, or previous experience as an Engineering Buyer.
You will have:
Knowledge of steel machining and fabrication
Experience of RFQ, order placement and expediting.
Experience with sourcing and developing good engineering suppliers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to read Engineering Drawings and understand steel machining and fabrication processes.
Highly organised and ability to prioritise workloads and projects.
Good working knowledge of main ERP systems and Microsoft packages (word/excel/project etc).
Ability to work under pressure and achieve results which enhance margins of company sales.
