Job summary

Landmarc Support Services currently have an exciting opportunity for a Training Area Operative to join the team at West Tofts Camp in Thetford (IP26 5EP).

As the Training Area Operative your main responsibilities will be to ensure that the Training Estate facilities and ranges are fit for purpose, maintaining a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train, this pivotal role is essential to the delivery of the contract.

We are looking for someone who either has previous knowledge of working on the Defence Training Estate or someone who is keen to learn new skills and bring an enthusiastic willingness to learn, Landmarc will provide full training for the successful applicant.

This position is being offered on a permanent contract. You will be required to work flexibly over a 37 hour week, between the hours of 07:00 - 23:00. There will be a requirement to work some weekends, this is reflected in our Variable Days Allowance.

Main ResponsibilitiesPreparing training areas for use including, preventative maintenance and grounds maintenance

Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided)

Manufacturing and deploying targets (training provided)

Driving and operating fleet vehicles

Use of warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights

Direct, support and advise training estate users both civilian and military

Report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate

To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective training area delivery e.g. Handover / take back of facilities and or ranges with service users

Housekeeping and caretaking tasks

To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper based systems

The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will enjoy working in a rural environment and possess the following:

Knowledge of Health and Safety such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work

Experience as a range/ training area user (desirable)

Experience of communicating with customers

Basic labouring, caretaking and housekeeping skills

Ability to complete documentation
