Meridian Health are looking for a Tradesperson (Higher Level Electrician) to work at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, PE29 6NTYou will interact with a variety of people including staff, service users and visitors and therefore must have excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with our customers.
Salary: £27,055 + 1 year retention bonus
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities of the post will include:
Leading and co-ordinating the retained estates team at Stamford and Rutland Hospital including planning holiday and carrying out MPSs with the assistance of the Electrical Management team.
Undertaking a range of repairs and core craft electrical and general engineering duties and associated works for the Trust and its clinical providers. maintaining engineering services and equipment at a range of sites consisting of Hospitals, accommodation, Offices whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Regulations.
Expected to undertake flexible hours as well as overtime and call outs as workload demands.
Service, test, calibrate, diagnose and repair faults, most, of which are non-routine and can be of a complex nature of hospital properties and equipment. Range of work procedures in progressing jobs requiring a high level of theoretical knowledge. Understanding and safeguarding highly technical tools often used in fault finding situations.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You must possess a relevant formal electrical qualification and be conversant with electrical regulations. Attention to detail is a must. You must possess good literacy skills and the ability to work on your own and work as part of the maintenance team to achieve shared goals.
Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules on various plant and equipment using specific tools and equipment and utilising highly developed skills necessary for relevant accuracy. Input information onto Planet FM computer program and utilise to best plan workload. Update regularly to keep abreast of development of the Trust/Hospital.
Respond to all type of works, working from Planned Maintenance Schedules, Help Desk Requisitions and verbal instructions.
Provides technical advice to other estates maintenance staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Willing to be trained to undertake AP duties in other disciplines such as LV systems, lifts etc.
Play an active role in maintaining a safe, efficient, working environment by providing a range of effective day-to-day engineering and technical services to the site.
Able to forward plan resource needs, i.e. types of tools and equipment used for each task. Ensuring Health & Safety and COSHH regulations are adhered to at all times.
Undertakes condition surveys, evaluates inspection reports. play a key role in the delivery of planned preventive maintenance regime as instructed by their line manager/team leader
Assess, manage and recommend appropriate engineering solutions and technical demands, for example carrying out fault finding on complicated and technically challenging equipment and services then determining appropriate actions required to rectify situation
Interpret technical drawings and specifications, produce technical assessments and options for a range of engineering related issues
Moving assets, delivering parts and equipment around the site, as well as safe use of tools and equipment in line with regulation. Ensuring adequate plant, consumables, materials and other resources are available for all tasks through procurement of required spares.
Work closely with other crafts persons, team leaders and managers to ensure all tasks are completed within the established priority time scales.
Ensure that team leaders and managers are fully informed and kept up-to-date on any issues that will delay performance against KPIs or SLA's
Ensure that all documents issued by the help desk are properly and clearly completed in line with management instructions.
Conducting Statutory testing and inspection programmes, including the co-ordinating role for service shut downs and new works
Co-coordinate activities with other works disciplines to ensure efficient and safe working practices are achieved and observed at all times.
Initiate work orders to team leaders for new works, breakdowns, planned maintenance / inspections and associated works.Communicate to Managers, contractors and other healthcare professions to provide advice, guidance, technical support and instruction to ensure the efficient and safe operation of services and equipment.
Person specificationEducation & QualificationsEssential criteria
A minimum qualification of City & Guilds 236 parts 1 & 2 or BTEC First Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Foundation Modern Apprenticeship (NVQ level 3 with key skills)
City & Guilds 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
Desirable criteria
BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Advanced Modern Apprenticeship (NVQ level 3 with key skills)
Existing AP qualification
ExperienceEssential criteria
Completion of a structured training program in electrical engineering for a minimum period of 3 years.
Significant experience of electrical installation and maintenance
KnowledgeEssential criteria
Working Knowledge of safe isolation procedure
Desirable criteria
Competent person to HTM 06-02 electrical safety code for hospitals
