What Will You Be Doing?
Reporting into the Distribution Centre Shift Manager, the successful candidate will be required to forward plan labour and equipment requirements within all areas of the Distribution Centre, whilst promoting strong leadership skills to achieve compliance and continual improvements associated with H&S, company procedures, performance optimisation, and accurate WMS (SAP) management.
Training and objective setting for your reporting team will be crucial within this challenging role, as we look to meet monthly and annual operational targets, whilst providing effective 360-degree communication skills, and competent problem-solving capabilities. Flexibility to manage across multiple activity areas, is a must! As and when required, this will include covering the Shift Manager when absent or on holiday, and overtime requirements when needed.
Day to Day will also include:
* Ownership of selected activity area, e.g., picking and dispatch etc.
* Performance monitoring of shift supervisors and their reports
* Forward plan and balance labour and equipment, against operational plans to meet the shifts productivity targets. This includes monthly set goods issue targets, and availability associated to efficient put away requirements.
* Provide support and consult with other areas/leaders, to facilitate the integration of activities to maximise productivity and react to any issues on the shift.
* Promote, educate, maintain and where necessary improve standards of H&S, 5S housekeeping and organisation of the complete area of responsibility.
* Identify potential process improvement and where appropriate lead project/s for implementation.
* Provide support to operators and less experienced technical staff in resolving problems and issues related to standard operating procedures.
* Lead, develop and motivate operatives to ensure they can deliver targets and goals.
* Effective communication to all associated stakeholders, to adopt a closed loop feedback culture for all projects or queries.
* Ability to operate and process provided warehouse management system (SAP), in an accurate and timely manner along with Microsoft office (word, excel etc)
The Ideal candidate will have:
* 3 to 5 years minimum Supervisor experience in a warehouse environment
* MHE experience
* Numerate and able to use IT necessary for the role including, SAP, Microsoft office
* Self-motivated, adaptable and uses initiative.
* Organisation and planning skills.
* Pays attention to details and accuracy.
* Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately.
* Motivation and leadership skills with ability to manage people and develop capabilities.
* Applies analysis and judgement to assess shift performance against key measures, to decide between priorities and solve problems.
* Takes personal ownership of seeing problems through to solution.
