VH Talent is delighted to be working in partnership with our client, a unique engineering facility based in Shepshed to appoint a Lead Buyer.
The successful candidate will oversee and manage all procurement activities onsite and report into the Sales & Operations Manager. This is a standalone role, which will require an experienced Procurement Professional who has excellent negotiations skills, is detail orientated, able to adopt a global overview and is self-motivated!

The Lead Buyer Role:
* Manage all procurement activities onsite, ranging from; purchasing, pricing, negotiations, supplier management/selection, volume discounts, agreeing terms/contracts and deliverables, through to compliance with government laws, regulations and standards
* Oversee and manage supply and demand to ensure efficient
* Build excellent relationships with Suppliers to optimise performance and reduce costs
* Manage quotations, purchase orders and expediting activity to ensure SLAs are achieved. Coordinate and manage deliveries, inventory and costs with an emphasis on quality. Ensuring to take action on changes in demand, inventory level and supply issues.
* Ensure MRP systems are modified, maintained and updated regularly, ensuring attention to detail with information recorded
* Support the Supply Chain Department with operating smoothly and assist with enquires as and when required from internal and external sources
* Implements formal and legal contractual documentation into the purchase orders, encompassing all corporate and government requirements
* Ensure compliance to government laws, regulations and procurement policies and procedures
* Identify problem areas, initiates corrective action and establishes problem resolution dates in a timely manner. Resolves discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance
* Work towards the Department and wider business objectives, ensuring driving continuous improvement at all times
Youll Need:
* Previous experience of operating within a Senior Procurement or Supply Chain appointment
* Good understanding of principles and practises of procurement in an engineering or manufacturing setting
* CIPS qualified or equivalent
* A proactive approach with the ability to use own initiative to drive tasks to completion and make decisions
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence, negotiate and liaise with internal and external personnel
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and demands
* Adopts an analytical approach
* Proficient in Microsoft packages and MRP Systems
* Experience of working in a Continuous Improvement environment
* Problem solving skills and a solution provider
* Previous experience of operating within an aerospace environment would be highly desirable
