Job summary
Job purposeThe Gearbox Specialist will be the direct interface to the Drivetrain and Tower Service Competence Centre at HQ.
The Gearbox Specialist will monitor and assess the fleet condition through the available analytical data and endoscopy inspections. Suggesting potential improvements, recommendations and corrective measures to lengthen the lifetime of the Drivetrains, as well as predicting component issues at an early stage.
The Gearbox Specialist will also provide support to the Local Operations and Account Management teams during client meetings, where Drivetrain issues are discussed.
Salary: £40,000-£43,000 - 25 + 8 Holiday, OT paid at x1.5, company sick pay, x4 life insurance, cycle to work scheme
Key accountabilities
Single point of contact for all drivetrain issues within your regionse.g. Providing gearbox exchange recommendation for increasing vibration trends
Perform, evaluate and create endoscopy reportse.g. reacting to CMS alerts by performing an endoscopy inspection and analysing the results
Interface to HQ on Drivetrain issuese.g. endoscopy the gearbox for end of warranty and following up for claims and root cause analysis with HQ.
Support budget process by delivering comprehensive exchange recommendationse.g. utilizing experience and drivetrain status data to predict future exchange requirements
Monitor Fleet Drivetrain conditione.g. monitoring the drive train status, identifying and reacting to alerts
Operational support on Drivetrain topics incl. Customer meeting participatione.g. updating customer on any known issues and planned works
Implementation support of Drivetrain retrofits with HQe.g. identifying suitable turbines for retrofits, supporting local service organisation with implementation, monitoring and providing feedback of results
Handling of Oil Analysis (results)Checking the results of routine gear oil samples and recommending preventive actions/resampling for abnormal results
ServiceNow drivetrain related ticketsHandling of ServiceNow (Internal ticket system) incidents related to drivetrain components
Training Technicians on Drivetrain repairs and endoscopiese.g. accompany the technician during bearing replacements and providing on the job training
Career / Job experience
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanics (Bearings, gearboxes, lubrication etc.)
Experience working on Gearboxes
Experience in technical report writing and report assessment
Experience in data/trend analysis
Experience in customer facing situations
Must be Health and Safety consciousEducation and qualification
Mechanical/Technical education/training through apprenticeship or technical college qualification or equivalent (HNC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experienced in mechanical measurement methods
Strong knowledge on Mechanical drawings
Knowledge of the standards and specifications required in Gearbox manufacturing
Wind Industry experience preferred but not essential
Vibration analysis certificationPersonal profile
