This is a great way to learn as you don't have to choose between education and practical skills - the Apprenticeship will give you a blend of both. The role incorporates study and completion of the HGV Level 3 Apprenticeship whilst working in our Rochester Workshop.

Apprenticeship programme
During this 3 - year academic programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as your future career.
Throughout this programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working, problem-solving and customer focus. Veolia as a business is not only interested in what you accomplish, but the manner you do it in.
You will attend our Fleet Academy in Bristol whilst undertaking this apprenticeship programme on a block basis.
Whilst on the programme you will learn:
HGV engineering principles - including vehicle applications, configurations, designs, diagnostics, technologies and vehicle testing standards and maintenance schedules.
HGV engineering practices - including inspecting, servicing, maintaining vehicles and quality checks and roadside assistance.
Using engineering tools and equipment - including hand and power tools, engineering and technical manuals and diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment.
Health and safety standards and legislation within a bus and coach environment - including the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and operator licensing requirements.
As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional experience, you'll also gain academic and vocational qualifications such as Level 3 Certificate in Heavy Good Vehicles Service and Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for carrying out inspection and maintenance on a variety of HGV vehicles but mainly Refuse Collection Vehicles to DVSA standards.
Carry out servicing of vehicles as per OEM recommendations.
Carry out diagnostics on a variety of systems on a vehicle to correctly diagnose faults before repair.
Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and comply legally.
What is required
To be eligible for our HGV Technician Apprenticeship Programme you will need a passion for contemporary environmental issues, a technical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, flexible approach and the ability to work as a part of the team.
You will also need to meet our entry criteria:
GCSE grade A*- C or grades 4 - 9 (or equivalent), including Maths and English predicted grade/predicted.
Having a full UK driving licence would be desirable.
