The Client
Our client provides Warranty Surveying and technical construction surveying experts in the residentials for insurance purposes. Our main client base is made up by working directly with architects, agents, builders, developers and householders to help developers and builders to identify issues early so that they dont become problems for customers.
The Role
To provide warranty / site inspections on a variety of developments to check for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation. The role will mostly involve the inspecting side so if you like this side then this role will be perfect for you!
Key Responsibilities
Duties of the post include, but are not limited to:
* Visiting construction sites regularly, you'll have the autonomy to run your own projects, developing relationships with clients & site teams, having time to spend on-site, providing advice & support to site teams as required
* You will be out on construction sites most days of the week, meeting clients and site teams. Your Line Manager will provide support and you will get to play a part in regular team meetings.
* Using your construction knowledge on all projects, you'll review works on behalf of underwriters and identify key risk areas, reporting on what has been inspected, recording defects, advisories and good practice.
* You will review all of your allocated projects, assessing client proposals, design, specification, site environment, construction details and programme, to understand projects & manage client expectations early.
* Inspecting buildings being constructed and / or converted, working closely with Developers and Builders to ensure the works are in accordance with Building Regulations.
* Effectively self-manage, by forward-planning own workload, to provide a responsive, helpful and professional service whilst maximising time spent on site.
* Recording inspection details on the data base and communicating comments to customers.
* Ongoing liaison with Surveyors and Management on technical matters to ensure that standards are being maintained and procedures adhered to.
* Ongoing liaison with Developers / Clients / Builders, offering technical advice and guidance.
* Undertake any other duties as reasonably required.
Key Requirements
* Preferably fully qualified and affiliated to either; CABE, CIOB or RICS or working towards.
* Enthusiastic with aspirations of progression to management responsibilities.
* Working knowledge of current relevant legislations and associated British Standards.
* Ability to undertake site inspections to assess both quality and the cause/effect of building defects.
* Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to create good working relationships with other construction professionals.
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.
* Demonstrable ability to use own initiative.
* Ability to motivate self and influence others.
* Excellent Customer Services skills and experience of Relationship Management.
* Flexible in personal approach.
* Working knowledge of MS Outlook (email), MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
