Here at British Steel in Scunthorpe, we're actively seeking Electrical Supervisors who can play a pivotal role in supporting our dedicated team of Engineers at our Scunthorpe site. As an Electrical Team Leader, you will become an integral part of our various departments, including:

* Rail & Sections Mill

* Ore Preparation Plant

* Steelmaking

* Rod Mill

* Energy & Infrastructure

* Basic Oxygen Steelmaking

* Concast.

In the role of an Electrical Supervisor, your core responsibility will revolve around overseeing the skilled workforce of British Steel, including our in-house craft and contractor resources. Your primary focus will be to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of equipment and plant within your designated area.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Engineer responsible for your area and collaborating closely with other Team Leaders, you'll take on the mantle of front-line supervision. You'll offer valuable technical guidance, motivate your team, and lead them towards achieving our ambitious goals. Your mission will be to not only maintain but also elevate the engineering standards in your area, nurturing the craft team to deliver a high standard of maintenance with safety as the utmost priority. Moreover, you'll establish effective communication channels with the Maintenance Engineer and the planning function to enhance maintenance plans and evolve our plant equipment.

In addition to your routine responsibilities, you'll be the go-to expert for fault finding and technical support in your assigned area, regardless of regular working hours, ensuring that equipment remains in a reliable and safe condition through the application of suitable inspection methods. Your commitment will extend to meeting plant operational/workshop targets, ensuring product quality, upholding top-notch customer service, and championing our health and safety objectives.

To excel in this role, you should bring valuable experience from within the Heavy Industry or a Commercial environment. Your role will be pivotal in supporting our manufacturing and production colleagues as they work tirelessly to meet our annual goal of producing a staggering 2.8 million tonnes of steel.

Your day-to-day tasks will encompass the maintenance and installation of industrial control equipment, testing, fault-finding, and working on various components such as motors, lighting, safety devices, containment, PLCs, instrumentation, overhead cranes, and much more, both within substations and the external environment.

What we need to know about you

Qualifications:

* Hold at least an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade.

* Alternatively, have completed a recognized apprenticeship.

Experience:

* Ideally, possess experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.

* Particularly valuable is experience in commercial or heavy engineering environments.

Adaptability:

* Demonstrated adaptability to new equipment is essential.

Commitment to Learning:

* Display a strong desire for continuous learning and development.

Knowledge of the steelmaking process, while advantageous, is not a prerequisite as extensive training will be provided.

*Certificate evidence will be required
