Job summary

Our client is a highly successful organisation in the housing sector based in Stafford. They have an opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join their team temporarily until the end of March 2024.

Youll support the Payroll Officers in the processing of the monthly payroll for the group and will assist the Payroll Manager with key payroll projects such as a system upgrade and reviews of current payroll policies and updates in legislation.

The company offers flexitime and hybrid working and is renowned for being an organisation that puts its staff at the heart of everything they do.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, duties for the Senior Payroll Officer will include:

Support the Payroll Officers with processing monthly payroll including making adjustments and deductions, sending out payslips, responding to payroll queries, producing P11d, and preparing year-end returns
Working with HR to ensure new starters and leavers information is correct and adjusted where needed
Responsible for checking, authorising, and coding employee expense claims
Calculate and arrange timely payments of PAYE to HMRC, Pension deductions to the Pension provider, and Earnings attachment deductions to the appropriate authority
Responsible for Auto-Enrolment administration
Payroll reconciliation
Assisting the Payroll Manager with projects including an upgrade of the payroll system, national minimum wage review, employee benefits review, employee pay awards, and review of the Defined Contribution Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme For the Senior Payroll Officer role, it would be good to see candidates with:

Previous experience within payroll, processing payroll from start to finish
Experience working within a project team and playing a key role in project delivery
Excellent Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
The ability to meet deadlines
Experience supervising staff desirable Hours: Monday to Friday 37 hours per week (flexitime)
Salary: £32,964 per annum (pro rata for a 3-month contract)
