Job summary
Position Title: Component CAD Design EngineerDuration: 6-Month Contract
Location: On-site 3 days per week at our Milton Keynes offices
Essential Criteria:
To design components and systems to customer demands and according to Nissan guidelines and policies.
CAD modelling of PP injection molded partsSkills:
Provide feedback from supplier and customer for NX 3D design and release for the following parts:
All rubber grommets.
All cable channels.
Responsible to assure all interfaces for each component.
Responsible to create rough proposals for engineering changes.
Responsible to create GD&T drawings.Duties & Responsibilities:
Package investigations and development of solutions to EDS component related package issues in conjunction with EDS Harness Design Engineers
Support the EDS Components team with 3D CAD designs for EDS components, such as metal brackets, plastic brackets, plastic channels, grommets, eyelet terminals etc.
Liaise with Tier 2 suppliers to ensure component 3D CAD data is updated and aligned with latest designs
Support Harness design engineers for creation of concept in liaise with component engineer
Liaise with customer directed Tier 2 suppliers for connectors, fuse boxes, retainers, for all 3D related issues
Ensure compatibility with EDS component CAD and the harness and vehicle environment.
Support component design reviews, validation and sign off processes (Virtual and Physical)
Design and 3D drafting in NX using the Harness Tool.
Conduct CAE FEA simulations to support component design, development and sign off.
3D data management
Adhere to Customer specifications and requirements while developing designs (SDS, MES, design guidelines)
Adhere to internal specifications and requirements while developing designs (DFM, Cost, Procedures)
Timely implementation of design changes during program development, prototype and production build phases
Review designs with customer manufacturing team to ensure feasibility for instillation into vehicle
Participate in all relevant customer and supplier meetings
Preparation and leading presentations for project reviews
Support prototype vehicle builds at customer locations
Review and document issues and track to resolutionRequirements:
Previous practical design experience from an automotive background (ideally Nissan)
Proficient CAD experience using NX and the electrical & Mechanical l work bench
Previous proven experience with designing/draughting All types of Harnesses and Components (Cable Channels, brackets and fixing parts).
Extensive experience with working to SDS, MES, design guidelines
Vehicle assembly process, especially EDS related aspects.
Solid experience of working with, or design of, vehicle electrical systems
Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic system function and diagnostics
Understanding of EDS design and development process
Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Projects
Excellent communication skills
Strong analytical skills
High attention to detail
Self-motivation and prioritisation
Ability to work in a team as well as alone
Fluent in English
