Exciting high growth owner managed SME
Our client, an entrepreneurial SME based in Nottingham and are seeking a talented Qualified Finance Director to join them due to an extended period of growth. Reporting to the MD of the business as finance director you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial stability and growth of our clients business. As you grow the finance function you will provide valuable insights, strategic financial guidance, and drive effective decision-making processes.
Core responsibilities:
- Oversee month-end activities and report to Board with monthly Management Accounts.
- Provide comprehensive sales and forecast analysis, including variance by marketplace and territory, collaborating with the Sales Manager.
- Control overheads, set budgets, and collaborate with other managers to understand spending requirements.
- Manage working capital, prepare weekly/monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Guide the Accounts Assistant in daily/weekly cashbook maintenance and reconciliation of all bank and loan accounts and intercompany balances.
- Validate monthly stock valuations, coordinate stock counts with the warehouse manager, and review stock write-off strategy. Manage Inventory levels in conjunction with Production Manager
- Act as the escalation point for technical issues and collaborate on KPIs, cash flow forecasting, and analysis with the Managing Director.
- Submit Quarterly VAT returns, oversee payroll data before submission to bureau for processing.
- Preparation of year-end accounts.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives in finance, manage banking relationships, and serve as the first contact for external tax advisors/auditors.
- Document and maintain financial processes and procedures, ensuring the team's adherence and completeness.
- Utilize and develop company ERP system (Business Central) to provide accurate and timely data.
- Support the Managing Director in identifying business challenges and opportunities, driving continuous improvements.
- Assist in annual insurance renewal process.
- Assist in ad hoc projects and routine tasks as requested by the Managing Director and Senior Management
Prior Experience and Qualifications
- Ideally fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA or ACA)
- Great communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders
- Previous experience in managing a small finance team
- Knowledge of Business Central would be advantageous
- An advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
This role is ideally suited to a candidate who already possesses experience within a high growth SME environment. You will enjoy a broad brush responsibility and enjoy identifying opportunities to create efficiencies and process improvements
