Our client is urgently seeking staff to join their team in Milton Keynes. The job holder will be responsible for the daily management of a shift, providing advice and support to Training Centre Assistants, to promote the safeguarding of Childrens welfare and ensure that a stable and secure environment is provided for all children that promotes anti offending behaviour in line with legislation, contractual and company requirements.
This role is based from a secure training centre for young offenders.
The post holder must adhere to all policies in respect of the sensitive/confidential nature of the information handled whilst working in this position.
Location: Milton Keynes
Contract: 3 Months (to be extended)
Work hours: 37 hours a week
Salary: £39,757 per annum.
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties set out below:
* Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

* Coach, support and develop staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met.
* Support the senior management team in the implementation of development strategies promoting a positive approach to ensure the change process is embraced
* Proactively plan each shift, including activities and visits, in order to positively manage childrens behaviour. Ensure effective and clear information and handovers with your staff teams so that effective behaviour management, security and safety are maintained
* Participate in the Admission and assessment process of children, paying regard to vulnerability and safety
* Demonstrate the value of education and care to children; through pro-social modelling and ability develop staff skills to change behaviour, encouraging them not to re-offend when released.
* Form trusting, respectful and professional relationships with children, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance.
* Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture to achieve and maintain recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit.
* Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed to a high standard, within required timescales and communicated effectively, in order to comply with the Contract and Company Policies and Procedures.
* Facilitate group and individual offending behaviour programmes, complying with training plans and within contractual compliance, in order to reduce offending.
* Liaise effectively and professionally with internal and external agencies, parents and carers, in order to maximise partnership working and positive outcomes for children.
The Jobholder should have the following skills:
* Previous secure residential experience within child-care
* Comprehensive knowledge of procedures
* Good understanding of how the operational contract works
* Completion or willingness to complete level 3 award in management and leadership
* Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
You must be flexible to work various shifts. The hostel is a 24 hour hostel so the right candidate will be available for any of the 7 days per week, including night shifts
You will require a DBS check for this role. We are able to process a DBS Check for you for you which is a requirement for these positions.
