Job summary

A large electrical engineering company who design, install and maintain electrical equipment are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for their office based in Rugby.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be assisting with the design of machinery and components used in the electrical power generation sector. The work involves the design, manufacture and repair of machines which are generally of a complex nature.

You will be joining a bespoke and highly trained engineering team within the business who are well known in their sector. Great opportunity to work on complex projects in varying markets to really test and build on your engineering knowledge.

Main responsibilities of Mechanical Design Engineer:

Mechanical design of electrical machinery, upgrades and retrofits.
Perform CAD design on complex components
Root cause analysis of failed machinery
Compile repair instructions for failed equipment
Potentially attend client meetings during phases of large projects
Carry out diagnostics on machinery prior to failure
Complete stress analysis including FEA
Assisting tendering and project management teams
Produce test processes and instructions for dynamic testing of large machines
Experience / qualifications required

Experience of working in an engineering design environment
Ideally Degree qualified with minimum 3 years relevant experience
Experience of a variety of manufacturing techniques
Ideally an understanding of rotating machines such as motors, generators, turbines, pumps or comparable equipment, but not essential.
3D CAD skills (pref SolidWorks)
