Job summary
Job Purpose:Working as part of a team for a specialist provider of care to Children and Young People in residential settings whos philosophy is to support young individuals from all backgrounds and to provide them with a safe & stable home environment. The overall aims is to support children and young people develop and learn life skills, enjoy and achieve and be the best versions of themselves. The children & young people you support may experience social, emotional and behavior difficulties due to their past life experiences.
Directly line managed by the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager. An SRCP is responsible for supporting children and young people achieve their best possible outcomes in order to live a fulfilling life within a safe and nurturing environment, lead shifts, delegate duties and take accountability for their shift and actions of their line as well as completing additional responsibilities that may be given from management from time to time. This includes meeting the requirements of a professional persona, working within a homely environment free from judgment, blame or shame. It has a requirement to meet the demands of working on a Rota ensuring consistent support to the young people accommodated which may occasionally include some on-call duties. This is enshrined in a knowledge base incorporating health & safety, non-oppressive practice, anti-discriminatory practice & equality, child protection, childcare legislation and regulations, as well as Midlands Care Services policies and procedures; and in line with the homes Statement of Purpose. There is a duty of care from on all residential team members to safeguard children and young people and give due regard to issues of confidentiality and data-protection.
Rota & Hours:
The Rota is designed to provide the best possible support to the young people. Shift patterns are organized on a 1 on 2 off model and include sleeps, however there needs to be flexibility around the needs of the home and organization when required. The Rota also has requirements that need to be met by those involved.
Attendance: This is a vital component as service delivery depends on this. If there are areas of concern regarding non-attendance it could ultimately lead to the instigation of capability or conduct procedures. Attending Training and team reflection meetings is also vital to deliver high standards within the home
Flexibility: For a Rota to be effective participants must be able to meet the obligation regarding sleeping-in requirements, weekend working and working bank holidays. Team lines may change to meet the needs of the home and to create staff development.
On-Call: Senior Residential practitioners may be required occasionally to commit to the on-call system in place to support the home should it be needed.
Requirements:
* NVQ Childrens residential Level 3 Or NVQ Children, Young People & family Practitioner Level 4
* Must have at least 1 years experience as a Residential Care Practitioner
* Valid UK Drivers Licesne
