Your Mission:
As our Health & Safety Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing our safety culture. Your key responsibilities include:
Cultivating a Safety Culture: Your primary mission is to promote a robust safety culture where every team member is not just aware of safety, but actively engaged in creating a safer workplace. You'll work on upskilling managers and colleagues, encouraging proactive behaviours that keep us all safe.
Policy & Procedure Development: We believe in setting the standards high. You'll have the opportunity to develop and embed relevant policies and procedures that are the backbone of our safety initiatives.
Auditing for Excellence: Your role involves conducting safety walks and compliance audits, involving our area teams in taking ownership of their safety. You'll identify compliance issues and address non-conformance while making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Learning from Incidents: When incidents occur, you'll support incident investigations and risk assessments. Your insights will guide us in ensuring that lessons learned are implemented across our various sites.
Keeping Records: You'll be responsible for meticulous record-keeping, and when necessary, transmitting documents to stakeholders. Your attention to detail ensures that we maintain transparency and accountability.
Data-Driven Insights: As a champion of safety, you'll report on health & safety statistics and analyse trends and data. Your findings will be the foundation for making the right recommendations to drive improvements.
Collaboration with HR: You'll work closely with our HR team to develop and advance our Health and Wellbeing agenda, ensuring that our team's physical and mental health is a top priority.
Training Initiatives: You'll support our Regional Health & Safety Manager in delivering training programmes. Your expertise will help equip our team with the knowledge and skills they need to work safely.
Innovative Initiatives: Think outside the box! Develop and implement engaging initiatives that foster a strong safety culture. This could include communication plans, creative training sessions, and impactful toolbox talks.
Your Qualifications:
Minimum requirement: NEBOSH General Certificate.
Membership in professional bodies like IOSH or TechIOSH is a big plus.
Proven experience in health & safety roles with a solid grasp of legal requirements, policy development, and the ability to perform risk assessments and spot hazards.
