One of our main clients has an urgent requirement for a Characterisation Consultant to be based at their offices at Harwell on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity to join a large energy services company who operate within a number of sectors including nuclear, energy, defence and scientific research.

As Characterisation Consultant you will work on the deployment and operation of mobile gamma spectrometry systems to various nuclear and non-nuclear sites throughout the UK and abroad. In addition, we provide higher level consultancy on various aspects of the waste management lifecycle and land quality.

As Characterisation Consultant you will work on technical reports of gamma spectrometry systems in support of decommissioning and remediation programmes of work. You will undertake technical consultancy work such as critical reviews, fingerprinting, DQO reports, delicensing, environmental permitting regulation documentation, waste management and characterisation plans.

My client would be keen to speak to candidates with the following expertise:

Essential

Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) in chemistry, geology or physics
Driving licence
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Keen to learn on the job
Good attention to detail
Commercially aware
Desirable

Experience or knowledge of gamma spectrometry high and/or low resolution
Knowledge of programming (e.g., VB Script)
Knowledge of GIS
Knowledge of conventional/chemical land contamination and remediation
