Your new companyThis multi-academy trust is based relatively centrally in the Preston area, and they have ambitious growth plans for the coming years, therefore want to ensure they have the right staff in post to facilitate this growth. This IT Manager position is to be based at a Preston secondary school, easily accessible via the M6 and M55 motorways and with excellent public transport links. Over the last couple of years, the school has seen significant improvement in standards, proven by their recent Good OFSTED rating and therefore allowing them to look at further growth plans. The leadership team at the school are very forward-thinking and are keen to appoint a proactive IT Manager who can grow with the trust and add value from an IT infrastructure perspective.
Your new role
Reporting to the Business Manager, the IT Manager will be responsible for providing a high level of IT service delivery across the school and the wider multi-academy trust which will involve overseeing the operation and planning of all IT services. As IT Manager you will be responsible for management, maintenance and updating of all hardware, software and networks across the school, requiring ongoing assessment and development, as well as troubleshooting. This will involve working with servers, management information systems, AV equipment, CCTV equipment and various education-specific technologies. In relation to networking, you will manage the network performance, whilst also managing all network infrastructure, working with DHCP, DNS and Switch Management. As IT Manager, you will work closely with the appointed managed service provider to ensure the IT provision is of the highest standard and will also work closely with staff, pupils and the senior leadership team. Working in this managerial post, you will also be responsible for the review of policies and processes in relation to IT, suggesting improvements and developments and managing all IT projects across the Trust.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must have IT Manager experience, or, as a minimum, have worked in a 3rd line support position, ideally having experience in the education sector. Experience with educational technologies and processes/systems would also be beneficial. The trust are keen to appoint an individual who has a proactive mindset, who is a problem solver and who wants to further develop their skills and experience, also therefore developing their career.
