The Role
As a Product Development Engineer (sometimes referred to as a UAT Engineer) you will be supporting the technical team to conceptualise, design, and test new technical products in line with company requirements.
As part of the role, you will also be responsible for formulating development specifications and performing design analyses to ensure all products meet company and industry standards and guidelines for functionality and safety.
Main responsibilities:

Determine the needs and goals of new products.

Testing products throughout the design process to troubleshoot any potential problems.
*
Sampling different components, manufacturing processes, design tolerances, and other factors to find the best ones that suit the product brief.
*
Design, develop, and implement user acceptance testing protocols as the final phase of applications development.
*
Fine tune designs and prototypes so that they are production ready.
*
Analyse existing products to identify areas for improvement and update documentation.
*
Assist in project and systems development.
What kind of experience works best for this role?
*
Ideally you will have a solid grounding in testing or product development processes
*
Preferably an experienced engineer with experience in product development or testing.
*
Understanding of defining acceptance criteria, test script design and design specifications using common formats.
*
Some experience of developing test strategies and plans for UAT and FAT activities
*
Good organisation and planning skills
*
Experience executing acceptance criteria and collaborating with key stakeholders
*
Working knowledge of IT based products.
*
Some defect management experience
*
An ability to analyse defect and test data that provides quality metrics and reports
*
Experience and knowledge of root cause and/or escape defect analysis would be helpful.

Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive reports
*
High levels of diligence is an asset, with some demonstrable experience

Good time-management and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple demands
