Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a EHS Lead at a Shepshed based global metal manufacturing company.The EHS Lead will facilitate Skills and Knowledge Development within Operations and embed good Health, Safety and environmental practices throughout the site.
The responsibilities of the EHS Lead are:
The role will be based in our office in Shepshed and will be required to travel to our overseas plant from time to time.
· Adopting a prevention approach towards health and safety, ensuring targets and goals are achieved.
· Assessing risk and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations which includes the manufacturing facility.
· Creating corrective and preventative action plans.
· Reporting, measuring, and communicating health and safety data.
· Ensuring health and safety training (statutory and upskilling) takes place and is planned proactively.
· Ownership of the Environmental systems and the re-certification process of ISO14001
· Ensuring equipment maintenance schedule is adhered to from a health and safety perspective together with ordering repairs for unsafe and/or damaged equipment.
· Carrying out internal audits of safety procedures.
· Presenting safety culture / principles to staff in meetings or training sessions.
· Ensuring a personal and current knowledge of health and safety protocols, techniques and legislation is achieved.
· Recommending and implementing new health and safety best practices.
· Investigating causes of accidents as a tool to prevent future issues.
· Reviewing and reporting on the staff's compliance with health and safety rules and recommending commendations
· Review, create and audit RAMS.
· Support the business in emergency incident.
· Work closely with HR Manager to plan, develop and implement strategy for staff training and development, establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of staff training and development.
· Monitor, measure and report on staff training and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales.
· Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary staff training and development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to directors, managers, and staff within the organisation.
· Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
· Demonstrable experience in a health and safety role, with sound knowledge of best practices
· NEBOSH General Certificate
· Risk assessment and RAMS
· Working knowledge of COSHH, Manual handling, working at height and DSE
· Capable administrator skilful at producing documents, spreadsheets, and reports.
· Focus on the behavioural side of H&S in line with the Bradley Curve journey.
· A flexible team player with a positive can-do attitude and good organisational skills who can work on own initiative and deliver results.
· Has a proactive and practical attitude to health and safety.
· Conduct a daily "Safety Tour".
· Responsible for the control and execution of Near Miss reporting.
· Conduct a weekly "Safety Gemba" with members of the SLT.
· Able to work under pressure with changing priorities.
· A capable use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Power Point & Word
The EHS Lead will have the following experience & training:
· Able to use own initiative when required
· Can demonstrate good experience and /or knowledge for this position ie QBE (Qualified by experience)
· Technician membership of IOSH or working towards achieving this (desirable but not essential)
· NEBOSH General Certificate - IOSH Managing Safely will be accepted as a minimum (desirable not essential)
· Experience in carrying out audits and/or inspections.
· Experience with HSE biased activities.
· Train the Trainer

Working hours are Monday - Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm
Salary for this role is £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
