Overview:
My client is a leading biotechnology company specialising in large-scale bacteria fermentation production and powder blending/packaging of final products. They are seeking an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to their busy production facility. As the Plant Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the site, while also driving key initiatives for growth, productivity, and health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Site Management:
Lead the entire site, providing hands-on leadership and strategic guidance.
Manage a matrix relationship with on-site Finance and off-site Commercial teams to ensure alignment and collaboration.
2. Employee Development:
Implement training and development plans to empower employees to consistently meet and exceed objectives.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the plant.
3. Financial Management:
Assume responsibility for managing the P&L budget, CAPEX budgets, and CAPEX requests.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
4. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Enhancement:
Oversee the implementation of improved Risk Assessment templates and training programmes.
Ensure compliance with occupational exposure monitoring and Dangerous Substance and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) risk assessment.
Cultivate a transformed HSE culture with a strong commitment to safety and environmental standards.
5. Operational Excellence and Expansion:
Have the ability to develop a comprehensive CAPEX proposal
6. Process Improvement:
Lead the implementation of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Software monitoring systems to packaging equipment.
Identify and address key constraints to significantly enhance production, with over 95% Right First Time (RFT) performance.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a Plant Manager or related senior leadership role, ideally in a biotechnology or manufacturing setting.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
A track record of driving operational improvements, increasing productivity, and enhancing health, safety, and environmental standards.
Demonstrated success in leading teams, developing talent, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Experience with CAPEX proposals and project management.
Knowledge of HSE regulations and risk assessment.
Familiarity with OEE Software and its application in manufacturing.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
