Job summary
Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Lead Primary Substation Design Engineer on a 6-month contract based in Stafford (Option for Remote working).The role will offer a high-level overview of design and interface with various teams throughout the project cycle.

Responsibilities of the Lead Primary Substation Design Engineer:
* Technical responsibility for primary design of substations. Accountable for approving primary engineering design within the department.
* To ensure consistency in design by chairing design reviews and adhering to design specifications, process. To co-ordinate with departmental peers for the design consistency across different projects.
* Responsible for co-ordination with the departmental engineering, client, civil, project management and other stake holders to deliver a high-quality technical output from the team in line with the agreed delivery timescales and budget
* Co-ordination with the engineering planner and monitoring the engineering progress of the project, escalating issues as and when required to the Engineering Manager
* To support the engineering manager and work on the departmental improvement issues.
* Responsible for standardisation of onshore primary design.
* Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies, for example Business Conduct Guidelines & Confidential Information.
* The technical guarantor of the proper performance of design works conditions in his/her field of activity, in matter of committed design budget (man days), deadline and Quality, in line with Customer expectation, while promoting ease of installation, operation and maintenance of the system.
* Plans basic and detailed design activities, manages & oversees detailed execution progress, coordinates delivery of required engineering documentation for procurement, manufacturing and site erection associated to concerned activity, based on Customer specifications and requirement, and internal standards.
* Design Responsibilities: Creation or modification of: single line diagrams, general arrangements, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable connection diagrams, cable schedules relay room layout drawings, electrical interlock drawings I/O Schedules and control system interfaces Creation or modification of cable design taking due account of access for cable routing: cable schedules, core sheets and ferrule packs.
* Management and control of drawing development. Creation of site packages. Creation of final record packages. Identify all relevant standards and Customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National / International Standards and legislation, and contract specification.
