Independent Domestic Violence Advocate - OldhamAre you a passionate, dedicated IDVA looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to join a team based in Oldham.
Umbrella Rate: £24.97 per hour
Duration: 02/01/2023 6 months initially
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, 36 hrs/week Office based
IDVA role: Full JD Available
Respond to the needs of victims of domestic violence, differentiating support according to their needs
Provide emotional and practical support
Act as an independent advocate to ensure all needs are met
Engage with individuals and families of domestic violence to keep them and their children safe, including safety planning and to develop plans to reduce identified risks
Undertake evaluations which explore family history, family functioning, interpersonal relationships, behaviour management, barrier to education and work
Identify and agree with household members a set of actions and achievable outcomes, record agreed actions on a practical plan
Challenge household members on any concerns about behaviours which have become barriers to their own independence
Lead on interventions for high and medium risk victims of domestic violence, using the Early Help Assessment tool in conjunction with the DASH risk assessment
Refer victims identified as high risk into the MARAC process and attend MARAC to advocate
Undertake joint visits with police offers to high risk or repeat victims to encourage engagement with services
Escalate to management any cases where there are ongoing safeguarding risk management concerns
Explain housing, civil and criminal legal, including immigration options to victims and provide advice on the preparation of applications for protective orders
Support victims though the criminal and civil justice systems, explaining the procedures
Provide advice, guidance and training to all staff
Essential Requirements
UK Driving Licence, access to a vehicle, business insurance
Recent experience as an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate
Understanding of the legal framework relating to the protection of children
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
You Must Have Right to Live & Work in the UK
Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service
