Job summary

Placement year commencing in Summer 2024

We are currently offering an opportunity for two undergraduates studying for their Law degree to join a placement scheme in our Real Estates Disputes (RED) Team.

We are a law firm with a difference. Our aim is to be recognised as the best career law firm to work for regionally, and with over 450 colleagues across our multiple offices, we are growing quickly.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic future lawyer to get some hands-on practical work experience, and to see what legal practice looks like outside of lectures and seminars!

Our Real Estate Disputes Team advise their clients, which include developers, property owners, financial institutions, and insolvency practitioners, on a variety of high-value and complex disputes relating to the use and occupation of land.

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide support to our specialist lawyers on a wide range of tasks, ensuring they are able to work at optimum efficiency and deliver the right outcomes for their clients. You will receive on-the-job training and support from the team to ensure you get the most out of your time with us.

Day to Day:

* You will support the RED Team with a broad range of administrative tasks, including the preparation of engagement letters, file opening and billing, and document production.

* You will act as an initial point of contact for new enquiries, ensuring accurate details are taken from the potential client and referred on as appropriate.

* You will liaise with clients when necessary to provide updates on their matters and answers to any of their questions and queries.

* We care deeply and as such, you will provide a highly attentive and customer-focused approach. Many of our clients work with us on a repeat business basis choosing the more personal service provided by Moore Barlow relative to other firms.

What we look for:

* Individuals with fantastic communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both clients and colleagues.

* Initiative for self-improvement, and a willingness to get stuck into new tasks and challenges required to meet individual and departmental objectives.

* A proactive and collaborative work ethic.

Application

If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, please submit your application by clicking the Apply Now button after following the link to our careers page. You will be asked to provide a copy of your CV and answer a handful of questions.

Please ensure your CV includes your academic grades to date, and details of any current courses (including dates, modules studied, and any available predicted grades).

We also invite you to include a cover letter as the first page of your CV document upload (you will only be able to upload one document, so please ensure the cover letter is part of the same file as your CV).
