Job summary
Title: Senior Engineering GeologistSalary: £45,000 - £50,000
Location: Watford
A practical and devoted Geotechnical Engineer is needed to lead a developing geotechnical and environmental team that includes engineering geologists, and geo-environmental and geotechnical engineers.
The ideal applicant will have extensive project management experience, the ability to lead technical project teams, excellent technical skills, and a strong sense of customer service. Engineers at the principal to associate level should also have experience and be prepared to contribute to company development.
The ideal applicant will have expertise in a variety of sectors, including road and rail, industrial, residential, commercial, and leisure developments, and will have provided clients with sturdy, technically sound, and cost-effective solutions throughout their careers.
Qualifications
A degree in Environmental Engineering/Sciences, Geology/Earth Sciences, or any other related field.
Although an MSc in Environmental Engineering or a closely related subject would be beneficial, it is not essential.
Possessing a Chartered status is desired not required; however, the expectation would be that the candidate would be working towards it, if not already achieved.
Having a minimum of 4 years of experience carrying out investigations, assessments, planning, regulatory liaison, remediating and validating, and contract management.Required Experience
A complete grasp of the evaluation and detailed design of temporary structures such as crane bases, working platforms, slope stability, and foundations (both shallow and deep).
Geotechnical Specification
Earthworks that have been reinforced
Soil and rock engineering; ground improvement; ground movement and settlement/subsidence; mineral workings and natural cavities.
Experience with building processes and restrictions, as well as value engineering evaluations;
Ability to produce projects and operate within a multi-disciplinary consultancy, with knowledge of the firm's structural, civil, and transportation skills;
Ability to offer technically competent and commercially focused proposals and reports based on a thorough grasp of the client's needs;
Experience in client-facing jobs, solid working connections with other professionals within larger project teams, and a passion for company development and marketing are all required.
Candidates must be skilled in the usage of the Microsoft Office suite. AutoCAD, ArcGIS, RocScience (Slide, RocFall), Oasys (pDisp, Xdisp), gINT, PLAXIS, and Wallap applications are required.
