Job summary
Handy person - 3 months FTC but may be longer - Covering Rugby, Northampton and Bedford area - £12.14ph - Enhanced DBS Is required.To assist and encourage residents in completing minor repairs and jobs in the home, and deal with day to day maintenance issues across Independent Living schemes and the wider community.
* To be responsible for providing a high standard cleaning service to communal areas in blocks including lifts, stairwells, floors, walls and windows. To maintain clear, tidy and safe refuse areas such as bin stores, chute rooms and hoppers, following specific cleaning specifications and standards.
* To be responsible for reporting faults and repairs, situations concerning anti-social activity, fly tipping as seen on the estates to the CSC.
* To undertake external work within schemes and customer's properties.
* Ensure accurate records are kept and all allocated work is completed to a high standard within a timely manner.
* Assist other members of the Independent Living team with Health and Safety checks and other scheme-based tasks, ensuring all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / PHYSICAL /BEHAVIOURS
* Experience of working in a similar role.
* Experience of trade background i.e. carpentry, plumbing, brick laying or electrician (preferable)
* Experience of carrying out a wide range of small repairs and adaptations.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety and ability to write risk assessments.
* Ability to negotiate with and influence the customer with the aim of delivering assistance and improving the quality of life for the individual in question.
* Possess a pleasant and caring disposition.
* Must be able to work on own initiative.
* Ability to maintain accurate records both written and electronically.
* Excellent standard of reading, writing and numeracy.
