Job summary
Principal EcologistSalary: £40,000 - £45,000
Location: Milton Keynes
You will play a critical role in our interdisciplinary team as a Principal Ecologist, offering expertise in ecological assessments, environmental impact assessments, and biodiversity conservation.
You will work with experts from a variety of disciplines to guarantee the incorporation of environmental issues into a wide range of projects, as well as coach more junior members of the team.
This position provides the opportunity to influence and develop our environmental activities, therefore positively impacting the natural world.
Qualifications & Experience
Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in ecology or a related field.
Possess or be working towards a Class 2 bat survey licence, as well as experience with development licence applications and monitoring.
CIEEM Associate or Full membership is held or sought.
A thorough understanding of wildlife legislation and the planning process, as well as habitat and protected species surveying
Biodiversity is well understood. Net Gain assessments with a firm grasp on the Defra Metric
Experience with project management, price quotations, and outstanding report writing skills are required.
Computer abilities, particularly the use of QGIS mapping and bat call analysis software, are required.The ideal applicant will have understanding of mitigation and previous successful application of development licences for these species, as well as experience with survey licences for great crested newts and bats; persons with similar experience will be considered. Additionally, I have past experience doing biodiversity net gain assessments using the DEFRA metric v3.1 and generating ecological impact assessments and ecology chapters for inclusion in environmental impact assessments.
