Job summary
This is an outstanding opportunity to work with this ambitious multi-disciplinary consultancy at Senior Level as an Associate Structural Engineer based in Chesham.Working on diverse and exciting projects within commercial, retail, leisure and residential developments including high rise and prestigious landmark buildings. As well as managing a team you will also be expected to contribute to the business and play a significant part in the future growth of the Group.

Excellent communication skills and command of the English Language both written and verbal, particularly with regard to the production of concise accurate and technically correct reports.
Ability to manage own and departmental work scale within agreed fiscal and time scales.

Ability to manage the workload of engineers and technicians.Responsibilities:
As well as providing an effective and efficient service to clients, you will be responsible for managing the department on a day to day basis. Strong management skills and technical expertise are a pre-requisite for a position at this level.
You will also be expected to contribute to Group activities by actively marketing the services of the company and seeking new business opportunities from new and existing clients.
Qualifications and experience:
You will be a qualified and Chartered Engineer and be a Member of either Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers.
You will also need to demonstrate that you are capable of managing and leading.
Experience of developing new and existing client base
Have considerable experience of working on a variety of projects.
Responsible for allocating and overseeing the work of Graduate Engineers, Technicians and junior staff
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Experience of contract negotiation at a senior level
A commercial understanding of fee management is essential.
Ensure client satisfaction at all stages of the design process
Actively seek new business opportunities as well as maintaining existing client base
Contribute to Group activities and make recommendations for improving all areas of the business as and when requested
Liaise with Group Technical and Production Manager and make recommendations on technical software and or training
Attend Associate meetings on a quarterly basis
As well as a good team player you will also need to have enthusiasm, drive and determination to meet the demands of a position at this level.

Ability to demonstrate proven ability to communicate fluently in English and produce concise, grammatically correct reports.Technical Skills:
Ability to design structural members in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
Clear understanding of both UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.
Conversant with NHBC Standards preferred but not essential.
Conversant with Network Rail Company Standards and Railway Group Standards preferred but not essential.
A proven track record in the inspection of analysis and reporting on structural defects and/or remedial works.
Excellent communication skills and command of the English Language both written and verbal, particularly with regard to the production of concise accurate and technically correct reports.
Familiarity with proprietary design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, S-Frame, TEDDS, SCIA and CADS.
Knowledge of the site investigation process.
