Job summary
Head of Employee RelationsI am working with a Public Sector Organisation based in Redhill, Surrey who are looking for a Head of Employee Relations for 3 Months Initially.
The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying up to £37.50 Paye per hour.
Job Purpose
To lead and manage the ER service, including the overall approach to ER cases which could have a huge implication both financially and on the reputation of the Trust.
To lead the ER team to ensure the provision of a cohesive, standardised service that delivers consistently high standards of advice and support to the managers and staff within the Trust
To work closely with the HR Business Partners and Divisional Teams to ensure HR involvement in achieving business objectives by efficient and effective management of ER casework.
To provide assurance on the quality of services provided through the achievement of HR key performance indicators and the provision of robust reporting and auditing against these
To act as the senior HR expert for dealing with cases of performance management and discipline for medical staff through application of the Maintaining High Professional Standards policy.
As a senior member of the HR team to support the development and delivery of the Trust's workforce strategy and policies to ensure that HR services are fully integrated to the needs of the Trust.
Duties and Responsibilities
To lead the strategic development of the ER function and manage the Trust's overall approach to handling ER cases.
To be fully responsible for the management of the case management system, ensuring full and effective utilisation of the system, including producing comprehensive ER activity report for monitoring and assurance.
To be responsible for the review of all ER related policies and procedures.
To be aware of the strategic objectives of the National Health Service as they relate to ER and ensure that the service always follows best practice
To be responsible for the strategic upskilling of managers through the development of ER resources on the Intranet.
To look ahead for potential issues / new legislation and ensure that they are reflected in Trust policies and ensure the Deputy Chief of People and Culture - Workforce is kept up to speed with developments
Manage the ER portfolio for the Trust and work with the HR Business Partners and medical staffing to ensure consistency of approach and seamless service delivery across all divisions and departments.
To agree KPI's for the ER service and manage performance against these
As the subject matter expert, to provide advice to the Trust on employment law issues, linking with ACAS and the Trust solicitors in relation to employment tribunals, representing the Trust in Tribunals and legal settlements.
To provide assurance on the robust management of complex ER issues to the Deputy Director of HR, providing updates and briefings on the progress of all complex ER cases, claims and settlements.
Accountabilities
Experience of advising on Maintaining High Professional Standards cases for Medical and Dental Staf
Significant experience of managing ER in a complex multidisciplinary organisation including employment tribunals
Experience of managing a service and embedding good practice
Experience of managing an ER team
Experience of working and negotiating with Trade Unions
Experience of working and negotiating with Trade Union
Experience of interpreting national guidelines and legislation into local policie
Experience of working in a multi-unionised organisation
Experience of generating, presenting and delivering complex data/reports
Experience of Implementing ER case management system
Legal experience
