We are currently searching for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at a respected local school in Winchester. This role is ideal for individuals seeking valuable experience before pursuing teacher training.
Role and Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your pivotal role will include:
Providing personalized support: Collaborating closely with SEN pupils. delivering tailored assistance in academics, classroom tasks, and personal care when necessary.
Implementing individualized plans: Collaborating with teachers and SENCOs to execute and modify Individual Education Plans (IEPs), supporting students in achieving academic milestones, and monitoring their progress.
Promoting positive behavior: Modeling and encouraging positive behavior, effectively managing challenging behaviors, and guiding appropriate social interactions.
Facilitating inclusion: Creating an inclusive learning environment that fosters a sense of value and support for all students, collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure full participation in classroom activities.
Assisting with classroom management: Supporting teachers in maintaining an organized learning environment, aiding with resources, equipment, and implementing strategies to enhance student engagement.
Collaborating with colleagues: Actively participating in team meetings, sharing insights, and contributing to the development of effective intervention strategies alongside teachers, SENCOs, and other teaching assistants.
Monitoring and reporting: Observing and documenting student progress and behaviors, providing regular feedback to teachers and SENCOs, and maintaining accurate records for program evaluations.
The successful candidate will possess:
Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs and challenging behaviors.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Graduation from a recognized institution with a minimum C/Grade 4 in English and Mathematics GCSE is preferable.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

To work with GSL Education as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:
Have the right to work in the UK.
Possess at least 6 months of experience in an educational or healthcare setting.
Maintain an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last 2 years.
Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
