Job summary
Purpose of role:Lead on the sales strategy and subsequent marketing plan including autonomy of the website (which needs to be a compelling illustration of the programme, sponsorship opportunities, exhibition floor plans and calls to action) to secure sponsors and revenue to agreed timeframes and meet budget.
Manage and deliver the sales strategy and marketing plan with the support of the Event Director and Event Manager on each event to maximise, secure and deliver all revenue and partnership opportunities and raise the profile of locally, regionally and nationally.
Provide leadership, support and clear instructions to the event coordinator to ensure that sales leads and partnerships are captured, verified, reported and managed cohesively.
Prime responsibilities and duties (aligned to key interfaces):
Create and take ownership of the sales pool for event sponsorship and exhibitor sales and introduce tangible enrichment to fully maximise revenue opportunities.
Provide regular updates for board reports and leadership team on budget, sales leads and conversions, marketing pipeline tracking and sales success.
Take ownership of sales within CRM; utilisation of the market intelligence database, providing coaching and leadership to the event coordinator on researching, recording and reporting methods.
Manage the inventory tracker and sales pipeline.
Reconciliation with accounts department to support credit control
Core competencies
Branding and design awareness, ideally proficient in Microsoft packages, design tools and ability to update the website to reinforce credibility to either brief in design or create designs independently to suit the reader.
Dynamic and influential, confident speaker/ presenter who can describe the vision and/or plant the picture of the end result whether large or small revenue.
Articulate, good communication skills and inveterate networker.

Essential Candidate Requirements
Home working set-up
Commutable distance from City Hall, Sunderland (weekly visits)
Ability to travel around the city and plan external event attendance or meetings around the UK to aid role responsibilities.

Competitor awareness of each prospect and related market intelligence. Proven track record of devising, selling, and initiating sales over the telephone and face-to-face.
Ability to listen to the prospect and design the best solution to achieve their objectives within the scope of the event, its package scopes and its budget.
Research and analytical skills in understanding the competitive marketplace and developing strategies and tactics to sell the events effectively given competitive market conditions
