Job Title: Band 6 CAMHS NurseLocation: Chelmsford, United Kingdom
Position Summary: As a Band 6 CAMHS Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health care and support to children and adolescents within a CAMHS service. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our young patients.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of children and adolescents referred to the CAMHS service, including evaluating their emotional, psychological, and social needs.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, utilizing evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches.
* Provide therapeutic interventions, such as behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and family therapy, to address the specific mental health needs of each patient.
* Monitor and review the progress of patients throughout their care journey, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary and ensuring effective communication with patients, their families, and relevant stakeholders.
* Administer and monitor prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols, collaborating with the medical team to optimize medication management.
* Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for patients at risk of self-harm or harm to others, ensuring appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.
* Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records of patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and clinical governance standards.
* Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions to enhance collaboration, share knowledge, and contribute to the overall development of the CAMHS service.
* Stay updated with current research, evidence-based practices, and national guidelines in the field of child and adolescent mental health, applying this knowledge to inform and improve clinical practice.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Registered Nurse with an active NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) PIN.
* Post-registration experience working in mental health nursing, preferably within a CAMHS setting.
* Experience in conducting mental health assessments, formulating care plans, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and adolescents.
* Knowledge of common mental health disorders affecting children and adolescents, as well as their associated treatment modalities.
* Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines related to child protection, mental health, and consent in the UK.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and engage effectively with children, adolescents, and their families.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to professional development and willingness to pursue further training and qualifications related to CAMHS nursing.
* Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other relevant healthcare technologies.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties, as required by the service
