As a Locum Band 6 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse within a Tier 3 Community CAMHS Team, your role is to provide specialized mental health care and support to children and adolescents within the community. Working on a temporary or contract basis, you will fill in for absent or vacant positions within the Tier 3 Community CAMHS Team, providing essential services to young individuals with complex mental health needs.
Responsibilities:
1.
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and evaluations of children and adolescents referred to the Tier 3 Community CAMHS Team. Gather information about their mental health concerns, emotional well-being, behavioral patterns, and social context to formulate accurate assessments and appropriate care plans.

Treatment Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with the child/adolescent, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings. Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, to support the young person's mental health and emotional development.
3.
Crisis Intervention and Risk Assessment: Provide immediate support and intervention in times of mental health crises or emergencies affecting children and adolescents. Conduct thorough risk assessments, develop safety plans, and coordinate with crisis intervention teams or emergency services as necessary.
4.
Medication Management: Collaborate with psychiatrists and medical professionals in the prescription and monitoring of psychotropic medications for children and adolescents when necessary. Educate patients and their families about medication management, potential side effects, and adherence to prescribed treatments.
5.
Family Involvement and Support: Engage and involve families in the therapeutic process, providing education, guidance, and support to help them understand and navigate the challenges associated with their child's mental health issues. Collaborate with families to develop coping strategies and enhance family dynamics.
6.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals in the Tier 3 Community CAMHS Team to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for children and adolescents. Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary meetings to develop comprehensive treatment plans.

Community Outreach and Prevention: Engage in community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about child and adolescent mental health and the services available. Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote mental well-being and prevent mental health issues.

Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Ensure confidentiality and security of all sensitive information.
9.
Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest research, best practices, and evidence-based interventions in child and adolescent mental health. Attend relevant training sessions, conferences, and workshops to enhance your knowledge and skills. Seek supervision and engage in reflective practice to ensure professional growth.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Registered Nurse with relevant certification and licensure to practice in mental health or CAMHS.
* Significant experience in child and adolescent mental health nursing, preferably within a Tier 3 CAMHS setting.
* Knowledge of child and adolescent development, mental health disorders, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
* Experience in conducting mental health assessments and developing care plans.
* Strong clinical and crisis intervention skills.
* Proficiency in therapeutic interventions suitable for children and adolescents.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathetic skills.
* Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing CAMHS practice
