FBR Recruitment are representing a medium sized general contractor working in the Staion Refurbishment, Property Refurbishment, Property Maintenance, Bridge Renewals, Roads and Public realm and New build sectors.Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work in their Head Office.
Job Description :-
Main Purpose of Job
To carry out estimates / tender submissions to all enquiries and produce competitively priced tenders taking account of properly researched costs and contingencies.
Undertake some valuation and surveying duties on selected projects to ensure the project and works are profitably and competitively managed.
Visits potential clients, surveys work and produces priced schedules so that clear concise documents are available once work is won. Use our Causeway software to produce well-presented and competitive tenders / quotes / Bids.
Ensuring quotes are turned around in a timely fashion and we meet all promised return dates. Manage visits to survey works requirements on site.
Carry out a Tender Adjudication with at least one director before any tender is submitted.
Estimating
Work alongside our Bid Manager and other Estimators to ensure a complete tender return
Process enquiries from small works up to £10 million and ensure these are returned on time and at the right price
Use our Estimating software currently Causeway to produce detailed estimates that can be used by Greendale staff throughout the job
Visits potential clients, survey work and produce priced schedules so that clear concise documents are available once we win the work
Obtain prices from suppliers and sub-contractors
Undertake valuation and surveying duties on selected projects to ensure works priced include all foreseeable costs whilst maintaining the competitiveness of the company
Where possible obtain three quotes for all major packages.
Increase diversity of subcontract usage
Bring in new range of suppliers/subcontracts for enquiries
Sales and Marketing
* Support the company in generating new business
* Work with contracts managers and Directors to ensure steady flow of work requiring pricing
* Chase up and monitor leads
* Assist in bid management on targeted projects.
* Generate new business through existing contacts and through generating new leads.
Finance
* Ensure valuations are submitted on time
* Ensure payment certificate is received from architect within specified timescale
* Advise contracts managers on where to place orders in the most competitive way to ensure maximum profitability of all works
* Where Surveyor/CM role is undertaken, placing orders will be carried out by the jobholder.

* All projects should have a running variation / cost implication list in order that this can be used in the preparation of the valuation
* Ensure variations to valuations (including architects instructions and site instructions) are obtained from Contract Administrator and entered into monthly valuation.
* Projects that you are working on will be financially reviewed following the job costing analysis on a quarterly basis at our financial meetings.
Project Management
* To assist in contract negotiation, bid management, processing initial enquiries and leads and the wider marketing representation of Greendale Construction.
* Achieve or improve on specified tender margins
* All projects to have contract programme
* All projects to have formal monthly meetings with Contractor Reports
Health and Safety
* Fulfill the responsibilities laid down in the Company Safety Manual ensuring that all staff adhere to the company and statutory requirements.
* Ensure good housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained in all areas under job holders control.
* Training will be given on statutory requirements.
Staff Performance and Development
* Feedback the performance of site staff and sub-contractors to Directors, Contracts Managers and HR Director on a regular basis and as the need arises.
* Assist in establishing a solid dedicated team that can respond efficiently to the diverse range of small works projects.
* Facilitate, coach, motivate and develop site operatives to their full potential by acting on ideas and suggestions.
* Implementing corrective action with individuals in order to assure a high standard of work performance, time keeping, attendance and general discipline.

* Consult with HR Director on all formal disciplinary and grievance issues.
