365 Premiere Recruitment an approved supplier of Hampshire Council is currently recruiting a Senior Public Health Practitioner- Health Protection Lead to work with Hampshire Council. This is a temporary ongoing full time role. Pay is £31phJob Purpose:
This role contributes to the function to advise and inform stakeholders and deliver assurance of the health protection status of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight population(s) to the Director of Public Health.
Provide specialist technical support relevant to the post, to the County Council, professional groups, partner organisations and other key stakeholders.
Ensure there is a:
proportionate and co-ordinated response to infectious disease and outbreak notifications
evidence based approach to programme management and project implementation
Robust mechanism of immunisation and screening uptake rate(s) monitoring and reporting, seeking assurance, as a function of the Director of Public Health, that the population is suitably protected
Develop, implement, commission, deliver and performance manage public health programmes and projects across the Isle of Wight to address agreed public health priorities for health protection.
Main Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of Public Health (Health Protection) business plans, contributing to the achievement of the objectives set in the report of the Director of Public Health.
Provide specialist Health Protection technical input into the planning, commissioning and delivery of programmes, where appropriate
Help manage public perception and anxiety of contemporary and emerging health protection issues
Generate and apply insight data to inform the development of targeted interventions
Develop evidence based outcome measures to be able to monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of public health services/programmes/projects and key public health outcomes against targets, indicators and feedback.
Manage, develop and sustain key working relationships across a number of organisations, providing specialist public health input to a range of partnerships in order to facilitate collaborative working with commissioners, providers, private sector and voluntary sector stakeholders. Identify local public health priorities and develop the action plans, policies and strategies to meet these priorities.
Allocate and manage resources, including budgets, for specific public health services, programmes and projects.
Contribute to public health training, including public health training for trainees and practitioners who have a public health focus to their jobs, and for multi- agency, community-based training events to promote and support the delivery of public health initiatives and programmes.
Deputise for the Public Health Principal as required.
Report to the Public Health Principal as required
Contribute to local and national public health audits and research projects in order to develop evidence of effectiveness in a range of public health areas.
Person Specification:
Degree level in Public Health or equivalent experience
Application of health protection and infection control evidence base to settings, applying principles in the development of organizational policy or position
Demonstrable public health or equivalent experience, including experience of implementing health protection policy either operationally or strategically, managing and facilitating change.
Good understanding of the wider determinants of health and inequalities which may affect population exposure to risk or access/uptake of immunisation and screening programme
Good understanding of health protection concepts, principles and models
Project management skills and the ability to innovate.
Ability to analyse complex datasets and performance data and present highly complex data clearly and concisely to audiences of all capabilities and attitudes.
Understanding of evidence based policy and practice, epidemiology and research methods and their application to health protection policy and practice.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to use effective influencing and negotiation skills in and beyond own organisation.
Evidence of ability to build effective relationships and credibility with a wide range of professional groups and organisations.
Able to manage and prioritise a range of complex and diverse issues simultaneously and competing priorities.
Substantive experience of working in a public health / health protection role
