Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3-18. The Events Officer and help drive forward our ambitious and exciting events portfolio for former pupils of the school (alumni).
About the role:
We want the post-holder to increasingly take ownership of our events, but you will not be doing this job alone. You will be part of a small and friendly team, led by the Director of Development and Alumni Relations. Our alumni events include formal dinners, drinks receptions, lectures, garden parties and more, and we host them both at the school and elsewhere in the UK. You will be involved in all key aspects of these events: securing venues, ensuring good levels of attendance, delivering our events to the high standard we look for and attending the events themselves. This is a busy, dynamic role in which you will be working on multiple events simultaneously; when you are not coordinating events you will be based within offices on our beautiful school grounds, where the environment is conducive to quiet and focused work.
Building and maintaining long-term, meaningful relationships with our alumni and supporters sits at the heart of this role. You will also need to use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate efficiently with our external and internal stakeholders. Applicants will have experience within an events and/or customer-facing role, as well as database and information management. A successful candidate will be someone who works accurately and efficiently, has a positive mindset and takes pride in their work. There are opportunities to grow and develop within this role and the school can provide access to training courses.
About you:
Specific qualifications, experience and/or training should be made clear on your application, and all will be advantageous in the application process. As important, however, is the desire to deliver outstanding events and customer service. You will contribute to the school's aims to enhance alumni relations and fundraising programmes we look forward to showing you how this role makes a difference.
Benefits:
This post is a permanent, full-time position of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role will attract a salary of £27,600, reviewed annually each September. Generous benefits include free school lunch during term time, school fee discount, free on-site parking, access to school sporting facilities, an 8% pension scheme and membership of the schools health cash plan.
How to apply for the role:

Close date: Noon 02 January 2024
We anticipate that interviews will be held on 11 January 2024.
You must be authorised to work in the UK. No agencies please.
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from any appropriately qualified person.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and responsibility. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
All staff working in the school during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In your role you are likely to be regularly working directly with, and be responsible for, children in your care.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
