Title: Junior Data ScientistSalary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE
Location: Manchester
If you're looking to begin or progress your career in Data Science, this is the role for you! This is an opportunity to join an organisation that is expanding its Data Science department to support the implementation of Artificial Intelligence within the company.
You will report to the Data Science & Analytics Lead, and support the deployment of a number of Machine Learning models.
Responsibilities:
Collect, clean, and preprocess data to make it suitable for analysis. Explore data sets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Develop and implement machine learning models to solve business problems. Work on classification, regression, clustering, and recommendation tasks.
Apply NLP techniques to extract meaningful information from unstructured text data. Build sentiment analysis, text summarisation, and entity recognition models.
Evaluate model performance and fine-tune algorithms to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Create relevant features for machine learning models and optimise feature selection.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and domain experts, to understand business requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
Utilise Databricks on a daily basis for data processing, model training, and deployment. Ensure the scalability and efficiency of data workflows.Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, etc.).
Strong proficiency in Python and libraries such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and NLTK/SpaCy for NLP.
Familiarity with machine learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Experience working with Databricks or similar cloud-based data platforms.
Knowledge of data preprocessing techniques and data visualisation.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A passion for data and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of data science.
