Job summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer. Firstly, and importantly, you'll be joining a welcoming and supportive team of experienced engineers who are passionate about supporting each other and our customers. The core business works on an exciting range of HV projects renewable energy ICP and EPC projects, transmission & distribution commissioning projects and large-scale railway electrification projects. We are rapidly expanding our team so it's a great time to join the business.

Our industry sectors include utilities, renewable energy, rail and private networks. We offer engineering services across the full project life-cycle, from feasibility studies and design through to installation, commissioning and asset management.

About the job

The Senior Design Engineer will support the full lifecycle from leading engagement with new and existing clients and supporting winning of new works, to design delivery and handover at practical completion with a target of safe by design. It will be important to ensure work is completed to time, to required quality standard and within budget. This role will also have scope to represent Integrum at a national level, ensuring all enquires are handled in the appropriate manner and a positive image of the company is always maintained. You will also be key in promoting business development within the design team.

Responsibilities:

* Actively support the Principal Design Engineer [Electrical] in the estimating, tendering and planning of new projects;

* Produce conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements;

* Work closely with technical teams to ensure standards & budgets are met;

* Coordinate the production and maintenance of electrical drawings;

* Use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to deliver panel layouts, circuit diagrams, Single Line Diagrams & Bill off Materials (BoM);

* Contribute to construction configuration baselines;

* Deliver high-quality technical reports and presentations;

* Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvement;

* Prepare work schedules and allocate resources, as well as supervising junior engineers and sub-contractors;

* Provide engineering support to HV projects in order to deliver exceptional engineering solutions for our customers and optimise efficient project delivery for the business;

* Ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met.

What you will need to be successful:

* Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline with, ideally, Chartered Engineer status;

* Have experience working in, or with, industry, preferably in a multi-disciplinary design, development and production environment, creating bespoke solutions, using both digital and analogue technologies;

* Demonstrate a working knowledge of the DNO Industry Best Practice is desirable;

* Have the soft skills and experience to motivate teams, coach team members;

* Experience of design engineering on projects in the renewable energy and/or wider transmission & distribution sectors and associated knowledge and expertise in technical standards and engineering solutions;

* Ability to support in the quotation of new works using estimating software;

* Experience leading project H&S processes and production of associated documentation, including hazard identification, designers risk assessment and method statements;

* Thorough understanding of both LV and HV design work within a contracting environment;

* Outstanding self-reliance, resourcefulness and initiative, flexible approach and excellent time management.
