I am currently working with a pupil referral unit in the Leeds, who are looking for level two Teaching assistants specialising in behaviour to work in KS2-KS4 on a Temporary basis with a view of becoming permanent to start January in the Leeds area. The SEMH unit provides stability, education and empowerment and takes into account their differentiated learning styles to ensure students integrated socially, emotionally and educationally. Your initial assignment in this post will be to see how well you fit into the setting, which means you need to be fully committed and enthusiastic about making a difference in childrens lives. As a Teaching assistant specialising in behaviour, you will operate within agreed professional ethical and school policies when working with pupils and those involved with them.
Encourage and support staff in a positive regard and use the restraint training method when presented with difficult escalating behaviours.
Supporting pupils overcome their crisis and support them to deal with the consequences.
Assist integration for the child into the rest of the class/group.
Maintain good working relationships with the other members of staff.
Empower pupils and encourage positive regulation of social and emotional skills.
To support the child focus in class and keep them on task to complete work that is set.
Develop positive and trusting relationships with the pupils.
Listen to the child and offer appropriate support if necessary.
Provide information for behavioural records and report back as required.
Job Specification:
Must have at least 6 months solid experience working in a pupil referral unit, alternative provision or similar setting.
Level two or above Teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
Must be proactive in your approach
Flexible in temporary work patterns
Team Teach trained desirable, however training provided.
Competitive daily rate £90 - £95.
Enhanced DBS subscribed to update service- or willing to apply for one.
