Responsibilities:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing a variety of standard and custom machines and tooling. SolidWorks knowledge is a must.
The role involves taking the technical lead on specific projects. Additionally, you will assist in coaching other Mechanical Engineers to develop their design skills and adhere to departmental processes.
Description:
* Design standard and custom machines and tooling.
* Carry out detailed mechanical design work, including 3D modelling, prototyping, and design verification testing, while ensuring compliance with machine specification, safety regulations, and CE compliance.
* Select mechanical components with consideration for standardisation, obsolescence, availability, and cost.
* Prepare and present mechanical designs at design reviews, while ensuring design files and information are up-to-date and stored appropriately.
* Liaise with other departments, including operations, manufacturing, and production engineers, to ensure products are designed for manufacture and customer requests are handled efficiently.
* Take technical lead on specific projects, coach and support Mechanical Engineers in design techniques and departmental processes, and identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements.
* Develop effective relationships with all stakeholders, adhere to all company policies and procedures, and consistently apply workplace management and rules.
Must haves:
* Experience with Solidworks
* Ability to understand/produce technical drawings
* Can coordinate with other Engineers (electrical, pneumatics, software)
* Able to report mechanical design status and answer related queries
* Liaise with other employees to update design status and collect cost data
* Experience ensuring functional compliance with user requirements
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and travel internationally when required
