Job summary
Our client is an established energy consultancy that is disrupting and challenging the way the energy market is operating and has large growth plans for 2024.The role of Business Development Manager is a senior sales position. Your role will sit between two companies that work side by side, the main company focuses on commercial Energy, and its sister company, focuses on commercial solar energy.
Both companies were born from the successes of our energy consultancy whereby we cross-sell a Solar PV solution to our customers, as well as attracting new customers.
This role is responsible for attracting & winning new business in both companies, whilst providing account management of Industrial and Commercial (I&C) accounts in the UK Commodity marketplace. The role requires a close working relationship with direct businesses across both SME and I&C sectors.
Knowledge of energy markets, as well as strong customer facing experience is key towards helping our client achieve their target of being the UK's go to energy partner.
Part of driving new business includes your personal network, networking events, prospecting/cold calling, following up on dead leads, social media including LinkedIn and all-round hunting for new business.
The role holder needs to be motivated, enjoy fast paced environments, passionate, hardworking, flexible, a go-getting proactive approach..
This position is of strategic importance and the role requires an experienced individual who can demonstrate a high level of proactivity & organisation skills and ability to work on own initiative to meet deadline.
To have the ability to contribute to companys success, you will need:
* At least 2 years experience in a sales role within the energy sector
* Ability to work to a high volume and manage your own diary effectively
* The ability to learn quickly and take in complex information
* Familiarity with CRM systems and sales processes
* Used to working under targets & KPIs
* UK Driving License
Duties and responsibilities:
* Prospecting and ultimately driving new business leads & sales into both businesses (commercial Energy leads & commercial Solar leads)
* You will be responsible for selling new business deals
* Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the UK utilities market and look for opportunities to deliver further value for our client and its customers.
* Deliver on key business KPIs which include gross margin contribution.
* Develop a strong strategic pipeline that delivers both contracted margin and volume into their sister companys portfolio.
* Grow excellent relationships with key individuals within target customers, developing a good understanding of their business strategy and culture.
* Actively create qualified leads from our partners by looking to cross sell various opportunities when and where applicable.
* Develop, secure and renew a portfolio of key accounts, delivering superior levels of account management for customers.
* Actively use Utility Click CRM system to report on pipeline and performance
* Deliver consistent and regular feedback on tenders, products and competition
* Participate in customer presentations/industry forum events for clients of our suite of products.
* Ensure leads & sales are delivered to a monthly KPI/Target
* Understanding the end-to-end customer journey
* High level understanding of the Sales Process
* Effective and organised use of Admin Systems to store documents appropriately.
* Maintaining awareness of industry and company knowledge
* Responsible for one drive- data input ensuring data is saved appropriately and is kept up to date
* Chairing Monthly in-house Lead/Sale progression Meetings
* Have had previous experience working with Excel spreadsheets, Adobe Acrobat, CRM Systems
Requirements & Skills:
* Strong motivation to work in a fast-paced environment
* Be able to demonstrate a high level of organisation & time management skills
* Have the ability to work on own initiative to meet deadlines
* Manage multiple assignments at once whilst maintaining a high level of service
Employment Benefits:
Flexible Working: HQ is located in Tamworth where we would like you to be in the office 1-2 days a week with the rest of the time out prospecting or working from home
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week. (Mon-Fri 9-5) with 30 mins lunch break each day

Pension: operate with standard government NEST pension scheme and offer 4% of matched employee 4% contributions each month.
1. Basic Salary: Salary Range: Between £30K-£40K (Based on Experience)
2. Car Allowance: £450pcm (£5,400 per annum)
Year One OTE Earnings + Car Allowance = Approx. £70k pa
It would be expected that as the BDM develops their pipeline, their OTE will increase significantly as they will have the potential to earn commission from renewals and new business as they move into Year Two and onwards.
