Job summary
Role: Human Factors Consultant / Behavioural Safety SpecialistLocation: Rosyth - 2/3 days in the office
Duration: Permanent
Salary £35,000 - £40,000 (Some flexibility for the right person)
37 hour week that can be split over 4 days. Part time hours will also be considered
Duties:
To act as the Human Factors professional technical authority. The role will work across the 7 Human Factors domains (Human Factors Engineering, Systems Safety, Health Hazard Assessments, Training, Manpower, Personnel, Organisation and Social).
To work together with other key teams such as the SHE team to ensure safety improvement is prioritised throughout the entire lifecycle.
To prepare Human Factors assessment work in support of both design and safety aspect.
To provide the Human Factors substantiation component of safety justifications.
Conduct and support SHE improvement activities
Provide Human Factors input to investigations and projects as required
Desirable Qualifications:
A BSc (Hons) degree in a Human Factors, Ergonomics or related Behavioural Science subject (e.g., Applied
Psychology, Cognitive Science or Systems Engineering).
Working towards Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors OR as a
Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society with experience of working in the human factors field within high hazard industries.
Competencies:
Be experienced in the application of human factors knowledge / understanding in support of engineering system / process design.
Can clearly understand engineering concepts and to communicate effectively with engineers and other scientific disciplines on human factors related matters
Be familiar with both HF qualitative and quantitative HRA techniques (e.g., HEART, THERP, APJ).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and a willingness to learn new skills / take on new challenges.
You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving
'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
