Job summary
Anderson Knight is recruiting for a Purchasing Officer for a multi-national company based in Glasgow.In this role you will oversee every facet of procurement (spares/consumables), logistics, delivery, and vendor performance. Ensuring the continual fulfilment of vessel requirements, promptly reporting any issues to the Purchasing Manager when necessary.
Typically, you will be working Monday to Friday office based. Due to the nature of the role flexible working is required.
Main duties and responsibilities are:
Take responsibility for arranging all purchasing, logistics, and delivery of necessary parts for assigned vessels, being accountable to Vessel Managers.
Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of vessels, adhering to class, statutory, and company standards.
Offer daily support for purchasing and operations to Vessel Managers and Fleet Managers.
Ensure strict compliance with company policies and procedures in purchasing activities, including P2P, and oversee the processing and payment of invoices.
Collaborate with the Finance team and Fleet teams to plan and contribute to vessel budget preparation, considering planned maintenance, procurement, and logistics for the budget year.
Adhere to compliance procedures and verification protocols, acting as the primary contact for contract and vendor coordination for assigned vessels.
Approve first-tier disbursement accounts in DA Desk.
Ensure the accuracy and updating of PMS details relevant to the purchasing process by engaging with stakeholders (ship and shore) in adherence to MOC processes.
Drive cost leadership within the assigned fleet team, maximizing available contracts and bulk purchases.
Offer training and support on NS to both sea and shore staff.
Key attributes and skills:
Extensive administration knowledge on Excel and Microsoft packages.
Work as part of a team.
Analytical, problem solving, time management and decision-making skills.
Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to respond positively to stakeholders in an effective manner.
Able to juggle multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
Knowledge of maritime shipping industry is preferred but not essential.
