Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Recycling Manager to join our team at William Thompson and Son in Dumbarton. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation of our recycling and Landfill facility, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Recycling Manager will report to the Operations Manager and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that our operations are optimized.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the operation of the Recycling and Landfill facility, including maintenance, production, and safety
Manage the production process to ensure required outputs are met
Liaise with sales and commercial department to ensure stock availability
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the facility
Monitor production targets and implement strategies to optimize plant performance
Perform quality control checks on all materials
Ensure that the facility operates in compliance with safety and environmental regulations and policies
Liaise with regulatory bodies
Organise and manage external service providers including cost control
Manage the maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including scheduling and coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance
Ensure daily checks are carried out and necessary repairs are carried out satisfactorily
Manage inventory levels for chemicals, parts, and all supplies, and coordinate with procurement as needed
Monitor and control plant operating costs, including labour, energy, and materials
Ensure that all employees receive appropriate training and comply with safety and environmental regulations and policies and have all relevant certification where required
Staff recruitment and disciplinary when required
Provide leadership and direction to plant personnel, including scheduling, coaching, and performance management
Maintain accurate records of plant production, maintenance activities, and safety incidents
Participate in regular safety action group meetings
Provide detailed reports to senior management
Attend training and industry relevant technical events
Keep up to date with relevant government legislation and industry developments
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
Skills:

* Knowledge of health and safety issues and how they relate to practical working environments

Requirements:
* Degree,HND in Mining Engineering, Landfill, recycling or related field
* Wamitab level 4 Qualification
* 7+ years of experience in a Recycling/wash plant management and mechanical processes or related role
* Knowledge of quarrying operations and or wash plant operations, and regulations
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if needed
