Job summary
Job Title: Electrical Test EngineerBusiness Area: Lucy Electric
Location: Thame, United Kingdom
Job Purpose
Responsible for testing and fault finding of both high and low voltage switchgear assemblies following test procedures and using traditional fault diagnostics.
Work from electrical schematics to ensure the safety and functionality of systems and associated equipment (control panels and electrical boards etc).
Working closely with the Production Manager and other shop floor staff to meet tight deadlines and targets.
Conduct panel wiring of equipment that will subsequently be fitted to the switchgear.
Advise the rest of the team (Production, Project teams etc.) on any electrical issues or suggestions.
Occasionally go to customer sites to provide on-site fitting, testing and advice to their own teams.
Monitor functional test yield and take corrective actions were necessary.
Conduct production activities relating to the manufacture and assembly of electrical switchgear.
Develop and execute test processes to support needs and permit future growth.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Adhere to all Company Health and Safety Policies and Practices ensuring safe working practices are carried out at all times.
2. Manage the Health & Safety and housekeeping of your work area.
3. Ensure the accurate completion of test records as required including birth certificates and time sheets.
4. Ensure maintenance is conducted in line with maintenance schedules and equipment requirements.
5. Alert the Production Manager when any tools or equipment fail to meet the requirements for which they are intended.
6. Raise awareness of problems with production with the Production Manager and work with others to find and effectively implement solution.
7. Develop initiatives to improve efficiency, Health & Safety and participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives / activities.
8. Provide greater knowledge during problem solving activities and support other members of the team.
9. Carryout production tasks with other members of the production team to meet production targets and quality requirements.
10. Adhere to Company policies, procedures, and practices as defined by the company quality systems.
11. Carry out all reasonable tasks and direction given by managers.
Dimensions:
1. Use of hand vibrating tools and hand tools when required.
2. Use and wear PPE when required.
3. Regularly lift / move items of 10kg and occasionally up to 25kg within safe lifting guidelines.
4. Frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arms length, stoop, kneel and crouch.
5. Work in Production areas that have moderate risk and require safety precautions e.g. Operating Machinery, Moving Vehicles, operating Overhead cranes in areas of relative noise.
6. Work in test areas that have potentially high risks attributed to HV testing.
7. Use substances covered under the COSHH regulations.
Secondary Activities / Tasks
1. Attend training courses and participate in on the job training, to develop skills.
2. Take on additional duties after training and qualification.
3. May be required to show or explain processes to visitors.

Other Requirements
Essential
Previous experience as an Electrical Test Engineer.
C&G 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations.
NVQ or SVQ level 3 or City & Guilds 2360/2330 part 1 & 2 qualification
· City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification.
Experience working in an electrical testing environment
A good understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulations within the workplace.
Desirable
A good level of IT literacy
