£57,811 - £69,121 per annum, 32 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), hybrid working pattern and generous pension schemeHays Technology are working in partnership with a large public sector organisation in Birmingham City Centre to recruit a Head of Cyber Security on a permanent basis.
The Head of Cyber Security is a key role providing leadership for the Cyber and Compliance teams within IT Services responsible for the Cyber security, IT compliance, Problem Management and monitoring that underpins the IT services. They ensure IT has the vision to fully exploit both traditional on-premise technologies and cloud solutions in a secure and repeatable manner bringing together the monitoring, policy creation and adherence, and in depth analysis of IT incidents to provide root cause analysis and improvements to availability of IT services, to facilitate the wider digital strategy and ambitions in a responsive secure and agile way.
This role takes responsibility for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on IT compliance and cyber security matters.
Alongside this, they are accountable for the performance of their teams, ensuring service targets and quality standards are met. They will foster the culture of operational excellence, customer focus and staff development needed to achieve this; and will support their teams with the transformation and skills development needed so staff across the Technical Delivery teams can adapt to changes in technology and support new and innovative service models.
Working as part of the IT Technical Delivery Leadership team and acknowledging that in a modern enterprise environment fluidity between roles and teams is critical, this role plays a key part in ensuring that the IT Technical Delivery works effectively - bringing IT teams together; encouraging collaboration; and supporting colleagues in meeting their objectives and responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies including gaining and maintaining Cyber Essentials certification.
Direct and manage a team of professional IT staff.
Work with senior management and other senior specialists in formulating policy, developing IT strategy, and making procurement decisions.
Takes full technical responsibility for all aspects of cyber security specification and design, ensuring security and integrity is maintained and regular penetration tests are completed on time and associated actions completed to agreed time scales.
Develops strategies and policies to ensure the continuing effectiveness, availability, security and capacity of the IT Infrastructure.In order to apply, you must have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
Degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject.
Professional qualification.
Holds Chartered IT professional Status or eligibility to apply for this level.
Demonstrable expertise in Software tools which automate or assist part of the development process.
Broad knowledge of the frameworks and principles on which networks, systems, equipment, and resources are based with particular reference to cyber security methodologies.
Expert knowledge of specific technical standards e.g. programming and accessibility standards, organisational network performance standards, corporate quality and change management processes.
Expert knowledge of the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc).
Proven experience of principles and tools for effective management of business continuity and the execution of tests throughout the lifecycle of development projects.
Demonstrable experience of SIEM software which forms part of the operating platform infrastructure.
A good understanding of processes and techniques concerned with quality assurance planning, software quality evaluation, creation of quality processes, configuration management, and quality reviews and audits.
Possesses a good understanding of ITIL Problem Management and the application of different root cause analysis methods.
Highly developed leadership and management skills with the particular ability to handle innovation and change resulting from the implementation of new information and communications technology solutions.
Able to demonstrate a good understanding of current developments in technology and can assimilate and interpret advice from specialists - technical or otherwise.
